Your Role

As a Senior Foliage Artist, you will create realistic, high-quality vegetation for our survival city-builder RPG. You will develop everything from ground cover and shrubs to hero trees and dense forest ecosystems, combining traditional vegetation-production techniques with modern Unreal Engine workflows. You will collaborate closely with concept art, environment art, game design, and technical art to create immersive biomes, villages, and points of interest that enhance exploration and gameplay. As an experienced artist and problem solver, you will help define our foliage pipeline, establish quality standards, and provide guidance and feedback within the team.

Responsibilities

  • Create AAA-quality trees, plants, shrubs, ground cover, and other vegetation assets for realistic environments.
  • Develop foliage using both traditional workflows such as SpeedTree + sculpting and modern Unreal Engine techniques, including Nanite foliage and voxelized shape-preservation workflows.
  • Collaborate with concept art, environment art, game design, and technical art on procedurally generated biomes
  • Support the creation of believable vegetation distribution, ecological variation, and biome identities.
  • Balance visual quality, density, performance, and scalability across large environments.
  • Contribute to the development of a modern, procedural 3D art and foliage pipeline.
  • Actively participate in team feedback, reviews, and coaching within your areas of expertise.

Requirements

  • Extensive knowledge of nanite foliage, voxelized foliage, and performance considerations.
  • Professional experience creating realistic trees, plants, and natural environments for games
  • Strong skills in SpeedTree or comparable procedural vegetation software.
  • Strong understanding of foliage materials
  • Understanding of procedural world-generation and vegetation-distribution concepts
  • Portfolio demonstrating relevant AAA-quality realistic foliage and environmental artwork.
  • Ability to work onsite in Munich, Germany, with valid EU work authorization.
